Titans win back-to-back road games

SHELBY — Fans may have paid for their entire seat, but they only needed the edge of it. Twin River improved to 2-0 on Saturday, defeating Shelby-Rising City in a back-and-forth 59-56 battle. No lead was safe on Saturday as the two teams traded baskets and leads multiple times in the game.
Zachary Held finished undefeated on the day at 113 pounds. He finished the day 3-0 with two pins in under a minute.

BROKEN BOW — Twin River opened the wrestling season on Saturday at the Broken Bow Invite. Zachary Held finished undefeated on the day at 113 pounds. He finished the day 3-0 with two pins in under a minute. Twin River finished 10th with 28 points.

Titans split with Eagles, Huskies

CENTRAL CITY — Twin River opened the season on Thursday with a 39-31 road win over Nebraska Christian. Delaney Reeg led the way with 10 points. Tricia Kunkee added 7 points. Clara Preister added 6 points off the bench.

Titans look to keep improving each game

GENOA — Twin River has gone through the fire in recent seasons. Two years ago the team lost 20 games and never got into the win column. Last season the Titans finished won 6 games, but never won two in a row. Led by five seniors, the Titans looks to take that next step this season.

Titan wrestlers have state aspirations

GENOA — Twin River has high hopes for the wrestling season. Coach Kalin Koch said that this year’s group features nine guys with a range of experience. The team is just a week into practice and are already forming good habits on the mat.

Titans blending youth, experience

GENOA — Some teams are building for the future. Others have the win-now mentality. The Titans can do both this season. First-year coach Matthew Quick has a lineup filled with experience as Twin River boasts two seniors and seven juniors on the team.

Titans earn All-District honors

GENOA — Nine members of the Twin River football team are receiving end of season honors. Seniors Kirk Hebda and Ryder Kleckner, along with junior Paydon Rinkol, were selected to the D1-3 All-District First Team.

Basketball sub-districts announced

The basketball season is a week away, but teams have learned who they will have to go through for a chance to make it to Lincoln. Teams only learn who has been placed in the Sub-District, not the host site.

Basketball fans may notice rule changes

Beginning this year, high school basketball teams will shoot two free throws for common fouls when in the “bonus.” This change to Rule 4-8-1 eliminates the one-and-one scenario and sets new foul limits each quarter for awarding the bonus free throw.
