COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently delivered lease payments totaling more than $1.3 million to area communities. Each of these communities owns their electric distribution systems. These payments compensate them for the use of those systems for the second quarter of 2023.

Twin River future in hands of voters

GENOA — The future of Twin River Schools is in the hands of the voters as the district asks the community to support a bond not to exceed $48.5 million.
There are still two community meetings where members of the public can discuss and learn more about the plan, at 7 p.m.

4-H’ers top competition in livestock contests

LINCOLN — Fourteen Boone and Nance County 4-H members competed in the Premier Animal Science Event (PASE), a two-day fun educational challenge held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, East Campus. Participants could compete in a wide array of events.

Pawnee Days open Thursday

GENOA — Pop over to Genoa this week for Pawnee Days.
The celebration kicks off on Thursday in the city park with the Little Britches Rodeo at 6 p.m., followed by the Watermelon Feed. Swimmers can enjoy the pool for free from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
On Friday the bike-a-thon will begin at 5:30 p.m.

GENOA — The search continues this week in Genoa as an archaeological team searches for human remains in connection to the Genoa Indian Industrial School.
Last week Nebraska State Archeologist Dave Williams and his team began the process of unearthing a possible site of the school’s cemetery.
