Twin River Board adds girls wrestling

GENOA — Twin River has added another sport to the winter schedule.The Twin River Board of Education approved adding girls wrestling at their meeting on Monday. The district will offer the sport at the high school and junior high level.

BCHC Patient Accounts Office relocating November 1

ALBION — Beginning November 1st, the Boone County Health Center Patient Accounts Office will relocate to the South Entrance of the Health Center. This change was made with patients in mind, as the majority of visitors already use the South Entrance for appointments and services.

Businesses compete, food pantries are winners

ALBION — Applied Connective Technologies and Valero Renewables Albion faced off again this year to collect food and other necessities for local food pantries. The heated annual competition concluded on Sept. 26, using the renewable plant’s scales to determine the winner.

Twin River celebrates final beam of phase one

Twin River students and staff gathered outside the school Friday morning to watch the final beam of phase one of the school construction project lifted into place. Students and staff had the opportunity to sign the beam on Thursday and Friday.

Hunter safety class coming to Fullerton

FULLERTON — A Nebraska Hunt Safe Session is coming to Fullerton.Jon Epley is organizing a class on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9-11 a.m. at the Nance County Veteran’s Memorial Museum. Registration is available at the Nebraska Game & Parks website.

TITAN HOMECOMING

Twin River celebrated Homecoming last week, capping the week’s festivities with the Homecoming Parade on Friday. Students held signs, rode floats and cheered on the Titans to a victory Friday night against Heartland.

Twin River changing messaging services

GENOA — Twin River Schools is moving to a new messaging service.The Twin River Board of Education approved the change at their meeting on Monday. The district will switch over to Apptegy Rooms later this year.

Pink postcards coming soon

FULLERTON — Check your mail. There is a pink postcard coming.Nance County’s pink postcard meeting will be Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nance County Courthouse.

GENOA — Despite the cranes and concrete outside, it’s business as usual in the classroom for Twin River students.Superintendent Brandi Bartels said the $39.9 million school building project remains on schedule and under budget.

County approves 2025-26 budget

FULLERTON — The Nance County Board of Supervisors approved the 2025-26 budget last week.The total operating budget saw a 3.22 percent increase over last year’s budget. The county’s tax request was set at $3,542,389.76. The approved tax rate is 0.256446 per $100 of assessed value.
