Nebraska’s updated Move-Over Law now in effect

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) reminds drivers that the state’s updated move-over law takes effect Wednesday, Sept. 3.Previously, the move-over law applied only to emergency and roadside assistance vehicles. Beginning Sept.

Fullerton OKs contract for police services

FULLERTON — The Fullerton City Council approved an agreement that will provide police services by the Nance County Sheriff’s Department within the city limits.Under the agreement, the city will pay the county $250,000. Previous contracts between the city and county were for three years.

Cornhusker Public Power District customers give $3,325 to help their communities

Ag society votes for one fair, no carnival

FULLERTON — Beginning next year, there will only be one Nance County Fair.The Nance County Ag Society voted on Thursday to no longer split the Nance County Fair and the Nance County Festival.

FULLERTON — Bad guys beware: The Nance County Sheriff’s Office has added two armored vehicles to its emergency response arsenal.Sheriff Ben Bakewell said the department has received two 1995 Strykers — 12.8-ton, 8-wheeled armored vehicles once used by the Nebraska State Patrol.

Twin River amends eligibility requirements

GENOA— Twin River loosened eligibility requirements one month after tightening them.Twin River Superintendent said that after the board of education voted to change the academic requirements for sports and activities in July, the district received feedback from the community.

GENOA — That’s how you celebrate your 101st birthday.Bennie Rinkol was presented with a Quilt of Valor on Sunday. The Genoa resident received the quilt surrounded by his family.Rinkol’s quilt was created by Josie Williams and was one of three presentations at the Nance County Fair.

GENOA — It’s a message going around the state and on Sunday it was heard in Nance County.Nebraska Coaches Association Executive Director Darin Boysen is going around the state reminding parents of their role as parents in education-based athletics. He spoke in front of Twin River parents on Sunday.

FROG classes going strong in Genoa

GENOA — FROG classes meet twice a week in Genoa.FROG — which stands for Fitness Reaching Older Generations — meets Monday and Thursday from 10-10:30 a.m. at the Pawnee Senior Center in Genoa. Classes began in February and consistently have between 5 and 12 people attend.
