Veterans honored with Quilts of Valor

FULLERTON — Two area veterans were honored for their service on Saturday night at the Nance County Fair.Dennis Gabriel and Susan K. Smith were presented with Quilts of Valor. A third quilt was constructed for Bennie Rinkol, but he was unable to attend and receive it.

Pawnee Nation members visits area

GENOA — Members of the Pawnee Nation visited the Genoa/ Nance County area on July 15, 2025. Walter Echo-Hawk, an Elder, lawyer and author, organized the tour along with former State Archaeologist Rob Bozell.

Nance County Fair kicks off this week

FULLERTON — Fullerton will be the 4-H capitol of Nance County this week as the Nance County Fair begins.The fairgrounds have already seen the first action with 4-H’ers completing the Fashion Show and Clothing Construction interviews on Tuesday.

Schools OK cell phone policies

Fullerton and Twin River students will have to put their cell phones away while at school.The Fullerton Board of Education approved changes to the district’s cell phone policy at their meeting last week.

GENOA — The Nance County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an explosion that occurred just after 11 p.m. on July 4.Sheriff Ben Bakewell said that a homemade explosive was set off in the 400 block of Willard Avenue.
