While growing up, I spent a lot of my summer break helping my parents with farm tasks. On extremely hot days, we often took short breaks in the shade. If we were working on the farmyard, we would find a tree to sit beneath.

Ten years ago Aug. 20, 2013 The Nance County Journal launched its annual football contest for the year. Fullerton students returned to the classroom this week. There were 23 kindergarten students starting school. Twenty years ago Aug.

Thank You

Thank You to my children and all my family members for putting on a wonderful 80th birthday party. Also, thanks to the Urkoski Orchestra and fellow musicians for the happy polk music. Much thanks to Maximus and staff for servicing the event.

In 1988, author Robert Fulgham wrote a collection of essays he named All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. That volume quickly earned a spot on The New York Times Best Seller list, where it remained for almost two years.

Journal Rewind

Ten years ago Aug. 14, 2013 Members of the Fullerton High School Flag Squad performed at the Nance County Fair. Members include Kami Ulferts, Alyssa Hambleton, Emily Frenzen, Ashley Frenzen and Jordan Jordan Stanczk. The group performed with the marching band at the state fair later in the month.

Ten years ago August 7, 2013 The Ober family received the Nebraska Pioneer FarmAward at the Nance County Fair. Twenty years ago August 6, 2003 Work continues on a bridge two miles outside of Fullerton. The bridge over Prairie Creek on Highway 14 is expected to take two months to complete.
