FULLERTON — The Fullerton Public Library will be closed from Aug. 5-17. The library will reopen on Aug. 19 with our normal hours.Fullerton Library Director Laurel Marlatt said she will announce the August activity when they reopen on Aug. 19.

Pawnee Days returned to Genoa last week with an Olympic theme. A full schedule of events offered plenty of opportunity for fun. CEDAR RAPIDS — The Red Cross Bloodmobile came to Cedar Rapids recently. For the first time in several years, the goal was not quite met. The goal was only 48 units, and more than 59 donors had registered, but some were no-shows, and some were deferred. Three donors were walk-ins.

The disease aster yellows is infecting purple cone flower and other plants. It is wise to be able to recognize symptoms of this disease. There is no control and the sooner infected plants are removed, the less likely the disease will spread to other plants and carryover from year to year.
