LYONS — The Center for Rural Affairs applauds the Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s (NDA) continued efforts to support the state’s small- and medium-sized meat processors with its announcement of a second round of grant funding through the Independent Processor Assistance Program (IPAP).

GENOA— Twin River schools are going back to the voters. The school district has scheduled two public meetings for later this month to get information from the public on what they would like to see in a proposal for a new school building. The meetings are Jan. 22 and 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Ben Bakewell has been part of the Nance County Sheriff’s Department since 2008 and is currently in his second term as Sheriff. Sheriff Bakewell is originally from Lincoln. He is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University where he majored in History with a minor in Social Anthropology.

Staff at the Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) have been working in the field collecting soil samples to a depth of 30 feet. This is a part of a project that began back in April 2023 in response to the continuing trend of increasing groundwater nitrate levels in parts of the District.
