Delane Edward Lytle

Delane Edward Lytle, 90, was born on Oct. 14, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., to Myron and Olivia Lytle, and died on June 2, 2025 at Granada Hills. He was raised in Inglewood, Calif., where he graduated from Washington High School in 1952 and attended El Camino College in Los Angeles in 1955 and 1956. In 1958 he entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He was recalled to active service in 1961 during the Berlin wall crisis.

He was employed in the aerospace industry for several years, first for Air Research and then for Douglas where he worked as a draftsman for the Apollo space program, on the S4B, 3rd stage of the Saturn focket.

After aerospace cutbacks, Delane was employed at various motion picture studios. He worked at Universal Studios for 30 years, first as a prop maker and then as a construction coordinator. Feature films he coordinated were Animal House, Little Miss Marker, Blues Brothers, Raggedy Man and Dr. Detroit. He spent the last eleven years at Universal as the construction coordinator for Murder, She Wrote.

In 1958 he married Eleanor Mohn. To this union five children were born: Elaine, Lori, Donna, Brian and Brenda. On May 31, 1981, he married Judith Schweitz at Mt. Calvary Lutheran, in Fullerton. The couple made their home in Granada Hills. In 1999 he became a baptized member of Prince of Peace. He was a 56-year member of IATSE, Local 44.

Delane had a long and happy retirement, beginning in 1996. He enjoyed his many fishing trips, here in local waters with his own boat or on charters to either Mexico or Alaska, often with his son, Brian. Their most recent trips were to Michigan and another trip there was planned for late summer. He had just picked up his 2025 fishing license. His other enjoyments involved time spent with kids, grandkids and friends. He was always up for a game of canasta!Arecent highlight was his 90th birthday, celebrated last October at the Knollwood Country Club with 52 family and friends attending.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; one son, Brian (Diane) Lytle, of Anaheim Hills; three daughters, Lori (Mark) Pachowicz of Camarillo, Calif., Donna Lytle of Warner Springs, Calif.; and Brenda (Vincent) Mendoza of Warner Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Nicole Farace, Ryan (Ashley) Farace, Danielle (Garrett) Welch, Delane Olivia Lytle, Garret Lytle, Eric Pachowicz and Sophia Mendoza; four sisters, Charlotte Marshall of Lehi, Utah, Carol Camu of Camarillo, Calif., Judy Salley of Coarsegold, Calif., and Cheryl Tymczyszyn of Torrance, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Elaine Forbes; his brother, Eugene; and one nephew, David Lytle. A memorial service will be held on July 18 at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Northridge. Graveside services with military rites, will be held at a later date in Fullerton.
