Plenty of basketball in Lincoln

LINCOLN — The Warriors going to State may be the reason you make the trip to Lincoln this week, but they won’t be the only game in town.Opening round games tip off on Wednesday and continue on Thursday. All semifinal games are on Friday.
Each week during the school year, the Nance County Journal will select a male and female Athlete of the Week. Winter sports have concluded for the girls, so this week we have selected two boys.

Fullerton takes on Garden County in the D2-6 District Final

The game against Archangels Catholic had little on the line.The winner would receive an automatic bid to the district final and the loser was all but guaranteed a wild card.

Warriors fall to Defenders in game with little on the line

HUMPHREY — It was a game that really didn’t matter.Class D-2 No. 7 Fullerton faced off with No. 4 Archangels Catholic in the D2-3 Sub-District final on Thursday. The Defenders would outlast the Warriors 42-31 in a game that was a lot closer than the final showed.

NCJ Staff Report LINCOLN — This week is the girls opportunity to shine in Lincoln.Six classes. Eight teams each. Each girl who steps on the basketball court has dreams of winning a state championship.

Warriors top Storm thanks to third quarter explosion

HUMPHREY — The Warriors came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders to open the second half.Class D-2 No. 7 Fullerton used a 25-point explosion to take complete control of Tuesday’s D2-3 Sub-District semifinal match up with No. 10 High Plains.

Titans fall to Cardinals in overtime

ALMA — The game on Tuesday was a lot closer than the final score shows.Twin River battled back to force an overtime, but Alma kept the Titans off the scoreboard in the overtime period to advance to the C2-9 Sub-District Final with a 45-37 overtime win.

STANDING TALL

OMAHA — Three Nance County wrestlers stood tall with medals around their necks on Saturday.Twin River wrestled in the Class C State Championships and Fullerton wrestled in the Class D State Championships. The three-day event took place at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
