FULLERTON — A business that has been in the fabric of the Fullerton community for decades will soon close its door for the final time.Anne Wemhoff announced recently that she is retiring, and Calico Annie’s Quilt Shop will be closing.

NCJ to have early deadlines

As we move into the holiday season, the Nance County Journal will have early deadlines surrounding Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.The early deadline for next week’s newspaper will be Friday at 2 p.m. to get any ad, story or photo in the Nov. 27 edition of the Nance County Journal.

Herman appointed to board of education

FULLERTON —Angie Herman is heading back to the Fullerton Schools Board of Education.Herman was appointed to fill the seat vacated by newly elected Nance County Supervisor Scott Russell. He had announced his resignation from the school board last month.

SAYING THANKS

Three Quilts of Valot were presented to area veterans on Monday at Fullerton’s Veteran’s Day program. David Sorenson, Larry Phillips and Roger Hellbusch received quilts at the program. Melinda Reimer and Lyla Sierks made the quilt for Sorenson. Delylla Olson made the quilt for Phillips.

Voters send message at polls

NANCE COUNTY — Americans across the country went to the polls on Tuesday to decide the direction of the future.Nance County residents returned 1,864 ballots in this week’s General Election. Voter turnout in the county was an eye-popping 77.44 percent. Nebraska’s statewide voter turnout was 73.

APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

FULLERTON — It’s a night at the theater.Fullerton is putting the finishing touches on their fall play production, “Appropriate Audience Behavior,” written by Ian McWethy. The play is set from the audience’s perspective while they watch a production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

FULLERTON — Election Day is less than a week away and members of Fullerton’s senior class can be a part of the process.Fullerton’s seniors made the short walk to the Nance County Courthouse on Monday to learn more about the election process.

Veterans Dinner set for Nov. 11

FULLERTON — The community is invited to the Community Veterans Dinner on Veteran’s Day at the Nance County Veterans Museum.The dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. The menu includes ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, lettuce salad, pumpkin bar, roll and a beverage.
