Fullerton senior Brett Bridger returned home on Sunday after winning a state wrestling title Saturday night in Omaha. The community came out to great him, offering a champion’s welcome.

Deadline passes for incumbents to file

Five candidates filed paperwork last week to appear on the primary ballot.  Lisa L. Lassek filed paperwork to run for re-election to the Fullerton City Council. Jennifer R. Quintanilla filed paperwork to run for re-election to the Genoa City Council.

Loup Power delivers lease payments to area groups

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently delivered lease payment checks totaling more than $1.3 million to area communities.  Each of these communities owns their electric distribution systems. These payments compensate them for the use of those systems for the fourth quarter of 2023.

State poet close to reaching all counties

FULLERTON — When Matt Mason began his term as Nebraska State Poet in 2019, he had one major goal in mind. He wanted to visit every county in Nebraska and hold at least one poetry event in each one. So far, he has visited 80 of Nebraska’s 93 counties.

Suicide Prevention Coming to Fullerton

FULLERTON — In Nebraska, suicide is the second leading cause of death in 10- to 24-year-olds. Most people can think of someone in their lives who has been personally affected by a loved one’s suicide. As prevalent as suicide has become, there is still a significant stigma surrounding it.

Donating to Fullerton’s Future

Dr. Jeff and Michelle Anderson have generously donated $1,000 to Fullerton’s Future Inc. The Anderson’s will be recognized on the Wall of Honor at the daycare/preschool upon completion of the project. Pictured are Dr.

Spelling S-U-C-C-E-S-S

FULLERTON — Cael Dubas outlasted 12 other seventh and eighth grade students last Wednesday to win the Nance County Spelling Bee. “It is a good honor,” he said. “I got third last year. I was looking for improvement this year. I improved, so I am happy with it.

Primary election begins to take shape

This is just over a week remaining for incumbents to file for re-election. Incumbents have until Feb. 15 to turn in their paperwork to appear on the May 14 Primary Election. Non-incumbent candidates have until March 1 to file their paperwork.
